How Do You Deal with Tricky Language Barriers?

Going to a new country far away from your home comes up with new challenges and adventures you have to face, one of such challenges is communicating with the new people you are surrounded with .

Here are some tricks on how you can neatly deal with tacky language barriers you may face if you are going to a non-English speaking country like Germany, France or Switzerland.

01. Sign-up for language classes ASAP

So, you have planned that you want to study in Germany for example, your degree would be in English yet many public places and more than 70% of the countries citizens speak their official language German. You would definitely be clueless in getting arround and even get into to trouble not knowing how the pineapple juice machine works in common convenient stores . Just Remember its never too late to learn a new language, even just learning a few phrases would help you a lot in getting arround your day in Germany.

02. Try to Immerse yourself into the new language

You can either watch the news on France 24 or watch a German movies series with English Subtitles. Do anything you can to engage and be familiar with the new language!

You would be able to learn in no time.

03. You can Always ask for help from your University

Many of our universities provide language courses for their students , this can help you to boost your knowledge on the new language  and adjust to the new countries  culture!

04. Translation tools always come in handy

Dowload google translate or carry arround a language dictionary . It would help you to understand and learn at the same time.

05. Be friends with Natives

Being friends with natives would help you to build a good social network in your new coutry and also learn their languge , they would be more than happy to become your friend and also help you learn about there culture and language. Participate in social events!
